Noun A notice placed in a consumers consumer credit report, at the request of the consumer and subject to certain expectations, that prohibits the consumer credit reporting agency from releasing the consumer credit report or any information from within such report without express authorization of the consumer. This does not prevent a consumer reporting agency from advising a third party that a security freeze is in effect with respect to the consumer credit report.
